This body of work is spontaneous, compulsive and lyrical, each painting jumping off the canvas and playing like a dazzling field of colour in your eyes.

Ward's work is deep-rooted in the experience itself, the physical joy of putting paint, ink, glue and most anything else that comes to hand onto canvas and board. The spirit of the artist himself and excitement of the process, stepping with each new painting into the unknown, is evident in each work. The materials appear to be applied with great speed and energy and at other times with quiet reflection, but always with passion.

Living and working in leafy Surrey, Ward is surrounded by fields and woodland; hedgerows bursting with colour and life. This landscape of hawthorn and poppy, cowslip and wood sage combines with the immense energy and creative bliss of Ward himself and re-appears as dancing, dazzling fields of colour.
