About Me

Diving into the colorful complexity of Owen Ward's creative mind will leave observers pondering, "What am I looking at?" As a current senior at Appalachian State University, Owen immerses themselves in detail-oriented work within the design field. Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Art and Visual Culture with a concentration in Studio Art and a minor in Apparel Design, they aspire to eventually acquire a master’s in Illustration. Continuing to embark on their artistic journey, they discover new perspectives and aesthetics to incorporate into their work. Owen considers themselves a pop artist but remains remarkably flexible within their field, enjoying the exploration of various mediums. They do not shy away from challenges and believe that detail-oriented work leads to success.

Drawing much influence from artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jen Stark, Owen's work often focuses on women’s fashion and the impact of time on the evolution of clothing. A graduate of the SCAD Rising Star program, where they achieved a 4.0 GPA, Owen gained a new understanding of the art field. Winning awards, such as a Scholastic’s Gold Key, an honorable mention at Mint Hill Arts, and a gold ribbon in the Tar-heel Awards early in their career, prepared them for a successful design career. They have been featured in Appalachian State University's Art Expo two years in a row, along with many other galleries. Owen is also a consistent freelance designer for Shandon Codes, The Boone Barbies LLC, and many more.

They are absolutely astonished by the support they have received from their family and friends. As an advocate for gay rights, Owen encourages others through their work to pursue and create what fuels their creative passions. Creativity is a gift that allows us to expand our unique ideas. Owen Ward plans on continuing their craft to make the world a more colorful and creative place.
